Are you one of those who can’t figure out how to enjoy life? Many people are experts on making themselves (and others) miserable. So how can you flip-flop it? Here’s a start:
* Lighten up. G.K. Chesterton said that angels are able to fly because they take themselves lightly. So don’t take yourself so seriously. And don’t take matters so personally. Be hard to offend. I once heard it said that if you can laugh at yourself, you are in control.
* Laugh more. Perhaps your circumstances are so far gone that it’s time to just have a good laugh. I don’t mean to belittle, but it might just do your soul some good. Text a few friends, go have a steak and a beer, share some stories, and cut loose a bit.
* Don’t live in your past. Don’t let what you cannot control control you. We all have regrets. There are things we’ve done, and things done to us, that can own us for life. Don’t let it. Refuse it. Don’t bow to your past, make your past bow to you. In other words, let your past serve you with lessons learned. And move on to the joy ahead.
What do you do to enjoy life? What else would you recommend?
I Am trying! But sometimes life gets so tough that we second guess every single thing…like, is God listening?
The message was so powerful today…thanks so much! Can’t wait to re-listen to it!
Thanks, Debra!
I understand. Been there. Recalibrate to Truth, and Truth declares He is close and He is listening. All is for His glory, your good, and other’s joy. Just wait on His timing and trust His ways.
Enjoying life, that is, the everyday, mundane routines—
-Actually THANKING the Lord when a driver is preventing me from going faster than the speed limit
-Being constantly GRATEFUL for the good results and the bad
-TRUSTING that there’s so much more to everything, everyone, everywhere in God’s Eyes
-BELIEVING that God has my best, whether I like it or not!!!
-Always realizing the ultimate goal is HEAVEN
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good stuff! Thanks for sharing!
At the risk of being a broken record but I am very convicted that my morning quiet time is the most important part of me enjoying life. I have my coffee and then go for a walk up at our town park with 2 to 9 ladies who meet up. We walk about 2.7 to 3 miles. After that I get on with my day. My husband and I always have a busy schedule. We are constantly aware of God’s goodness and blessings to us and are very thankful. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks Marie and we are grateful for you and Joe. By you experiencing God’s goodness And living out his blessings in your life, You inspire others to enjoy life.
Last night a friend of mine told me that on Sunday, you gave a Bible to her special little girl. I remember what a nice feeling that brought me many years ago, when you gave one to my little girl. My friend also mentioned Joe’s Friendliness and warm Welcome toward her and how much that meant to her as a traveling military family. I told her that I am sure you will be praying for her and her family as well, As you do for all of us!
Thank you Marie, you And you’re contagious smile gives many of us Good reason to enjoy life!
Just wanted to clarify that my Quiet time is with the Lord. I couldn’t edit the reply. Sorry Thanks
Marie
Got it! Thanks for sharing, Marie!
Things I do to enjoy life include fun activities and Festivities with my kids and experiencing Jesus with them. I also like Reading scripture while snuggling with my dog; Intimate times and talks with my husband, Singing praises to Jesus when I am Surrounded by his splendor, Sharing hurts, Growth and recovery in my ladies LIFE group, Rollerblading the heritage Trail in the fall, Working hard and tasting the fruits of my Farm.
Applying The wisdom I learn through sermons, DL and SLD allows me to experience Everlasting joy in my life.
Recommendations I would make to maintain joy Come from author Don Miguel Ruiz,In his book, The Four Agreements. They include being impeccable with your word, not taking anything personally or making assumptions and always doing your best.
Having an attitude of gratitude helps too 😉 – Happy and blessed Thanksgiving!
I also like to make the most out of Christmas time, eat delicious food and enjoy all the sights and pleasures Orange County has to offer….would you mind sharing what you do to enjoy life?
